You and I (Part 9)

Lisa continued: Look Sam, I admire that I have been slightly changed but you know that huge family legacy could change many things, In addition per my dad’s willing, I’m liable to take care of rest of my family and also dad asked me not to marry with an average guy.
I couldn’t believe her. She rejected me because I was average! But it was clear for me that disputing wouldn’t work and she already decided to break up with me. Besides she doesn’t have any credibility and I couldn’t trust her anymore. So, I just said: OK Lisa! I don’t want to continue this ridiculous argue.I respect to your request, so it’s better to leave you soon.
Lisa said: Have the launch here with us. But I couldn’t tolerate such behavior and just said goodbye.
A very old limped man accompanied me and took a taxi to take me back to London. On the way I felt sluggish and was surprised for Lisa’s ostentation. That night I came back to New York and moved to a small city and fled from all Lisa’s memory over New York. I was living there as a stranger and my only friends were a old fat bald man and his daughter Sara…

I stood up and turned to her. She’d worn a light blue silk dress which unbelievably was matched with her eyes. She said: Sam! What are you doing here? When did you arrive?
I replied: Honey, I’m here to see you because I missed you. Can we talk lonely?
Lisa asked the neat girl to leave the room, sat on a big coach and said: So, my friend tell me what’s going on with you?
I was surprise because Nancy’s prediction was right: Lisa has been changed too much! She called me “friend” not as always more romantic name…Just as a stranger…
I stared at her eyes and said: This is a demeaning behavior which you have. You left the town for a year and put me in a rotten situation and seems to me, you are about to obliterate our relation.
Lisa lost her smile and replied: What relation? We didn’t have any affair or any serious relationship so consequently there is nothing between us to worry about.
I couldn’t believe her. How could someone change this much? It was clear to me that she didn’t want to remember all those memories and that dispute was futile.
I tried to be calm and said: Ok Lisa, I’m not here to persuade you because there is no obligation in love. I came over here just to let you know I insisted on my loyalty and waited for you for a year but from now on, I tried to annihilate all those damn memories and come back to my normal life.
She looked out side and held my hand and said: Sam, calm down…sit! we have to talk…

You and I (part8)

The day after that, I asked my secretary to get a ticket to London. I was a little bit nervous but knew it would be sort of extrication form this emptiness. I went to my office and closed the door, took off my coat and reclined on my task chair. I thought what will happen if Nancy is right? Lisa is trying to eliminate me? isn't She eager?
My secretary knocked the door and told me that she was able to get a ticket to London for late tonight. After a while I left the office to be prepared for the trip and on my way home I bought a gift for Lisa.
After a boring flight, tons of thoughts, I arrived London, a 24 hour-live city with an assortment of nationalities, red buses and crowded streets.
I got a taxi and gave the driver, Lisa’s home address. We drove almost an hour to get there, somewhere in country side, far away from any traffic and huddle of people. Driver stopped the car in front of a huge beautiful home which shows its owner’s prosperousness. I paied the driver's fare and got off the taxi. I rang the door bell.
A very neat young girl opened the door and courteously asked: How may I help you sir?
I replied: Yes, my name is Sam Rocker and I want to meet Miss Lisa Pendelton.
She said: I’ll accompany you.
The young girl guided me to the hall room and said: please have a sit Mr. Rocker. I will let her know that you are here.
Everything looked amiable there.
After a minute I heard Lisa's velvet voice: Oh! My darling, Sam …what a surprise!

Nancy continued: And also you are aware that Lisa doesn’t have any brother or sister which it means a huge legacy has been left for her which may change Lisa’s life.
I timidly asked: So? That legacy is not my business; I just care about Lisa whom I missed.
Nancy replied: Sam! Don’t be stupid, as I told you, from now on Lisa will be a different person. Anyway… I’m sorry but she asked me to tell you that forget about her.
I felt faint and hardly said: I can’t believe her. How can she do that with me? Lisa promised…you know what? I have to talk with her…directly!
Nancy nodded and said: I do agree. You must talk with her yourself. But let me tell you something before you go with that. She already has been changed. When she called me yesterday I found out that she’s not my down to earth buddy who I knew before. Sam! Money sometimes could be nasty and worsen situations or even bring duplicity.
I said: maybe, but I'm keen on seeing her soon. I’ll travel over there as soon as I can.
Nancy held my hand and said: Good luck!

You and I (Part 6)

Thursday, March 5, 2009
After her leaving, I tried to work harder to stop myself from thinking because I knew if I had started just to think, it definitely would have made me upset and crazy. After a while I found a good job opportunity in a fairly huge firm which could help to keep me busy. Those days I banned myself from dating any woman. Some of my colleagues ridiculed me yet I couldn’t even think about someone else.
The one thing all the time annoyed me: After a year why Lisa didn’t call me? Does she still love me?
One day I was at the café with a friend of mine and I heard someone called me. It was Nancy, a close friend of Lisa, a fat round-faced girl who always looked weary.
She said: Hi Sam, I have a message from Lisa for you.
I asked her impatiently: what? What is your message? Is she coming back? Why she didn’t call me directly?
Nancy smiled and said: wait my friend, let’s go over the bar counter to drink and talk.
I apologized to my friend and left the table along with Nancy.
Nancy calmly said: Lisa’s dad passed away last week and you know he was a wealthy man…

You and I (Part 5)

It was shocking for me because I knew how reliant Lisa is on her dad. She was irritated and I didn’t want to worsen her situation. We laid down on the bed and gazed at ceiling. It was almost dawn and we didn’t sleep at all. I asked: So, when will you leave? She held my hand and replied: Tomorrow afternoon…
A day after I took her to the airport. I hated to say goodbye and indeed I didn’t know how could I counteract its sadness? Lisa had a same feeling. She held my face between her hand and looked at my eyes and asked: Will you wait for me honey?
I said: Forever, what about you? Will you keep this love in your heart?
She answered: Don’t be moron, Always!
We couldn’t talk anymore and she just left…

You and I (Part 4)

After a long silence, she turned her face to me and said: I have to tell you something, Sam. My sixth sense told me she’s about to say something which makes me worked-out. While she was staring at the mesmerizing fire, continued: You know my dad lives in London. He wants me to go over there and live with them for a while.
I couldn’t believe it and timidly asked her: Is it just for a short trip?
She sighed and said: I don’t know when will be here again!
I said: that’s rotten, you know I idolize you and can’t tolerate this cruel world at all especially this damn New York with tons of memories.
She yields: Stop it! Do not tease me in this way. If you had known my story, you wouldn’t have done that.
I was embarrassed. I stood up and went next to the window. I could see a huddle of young drunk men who were passing the street and laughed loudly. Lisa came over me and put her face on my shoulder and sadly said: He is going to die!
